Alante Original Furniture is a constantly evolving odyssey in a thirty years plus passion for furniture designing and making by Master Craftsman Ernest Thompson.

Thompson's artistic roots can be traced to his childhood growing up on family ranches in northern New Mexico and southern Colorado. He was born and raised in the ranching and Native American culture.

In the 1970's, Ernest revived the style of early New Mexico furniture and brought national awareness to the style by developing new and innovative designs which paved the way for what was to become Santa Fe Style, and he has been on the cutting edge of the furniture movement ever since. He has crafted furniture for clients on five continents, both residential and commercial, with local and national recognition for his work.

His company grew from its humble, self taught beginnings in a single car garage, to supervising one hundred twenty men creating his designs. Over time, bound by the daily operations of running a large furniture company, Ernest became burned out with little time to pursue his passion of creating new and innovative designs. Ernest came to a turning point in his career feeling creativity crippled and a strong need to change his direction by returning to his ranching heritage and reconnecting with the land, animals and culture that had given him inspiration. In 1990, he made the decision to sell his company. Since then he has reconnected with his roots and is concentrating on developing new creations out of his shop on his cattle ranch.
